What to do after a construction site accident
Many people earn a living working in the construction industry.  Ironworkers, carpenters, and electricians are some of millions of people that work in construction.  But all too often these workers are exposed to hazardous job conditions.  When this happens personal injuries can result.  Here is what to do following a construction accident:

Report the accident.  This is really important.  Promptly reporting the accident to your boss will ensure a full and complete accident report is created.  Be sure to report the details such as date, time, location, how the accident happened, names of witnesses, etc.  This will especially help if a workers’ compensation claim is later filed.

Things To Do Before Contacting A Personal Injury Lawyer

The aftermath of an accident can be overwhelming.  You are unsure of what to do, who to trust, and you also may be dealing with pain and discomfort from the injuries you received from the accident.  You may be deciding whether or not to contact a personal injury lawyer.  Here are three things to consider before contacting one:

Ask yourself if the statute of limitations has passed.  Most injury claims have three-year statutes of limitations (note workers’ compensation claims have a four-year statute of limitations).  If this very important deadline has passed then there is no case to pursue and no lawyer will be able to help you.

Massachusetts Senate Approves Hands-Free Cell Phone Driving Bill

Massachusetts Senate approves hands free cell phone driving banKudos to the Massachusetts Senate for unanimously approving a bill that would require hands-free use of cell phones while operating a motor vehicle.  This bill is essential and overdue given the high rate of car accidents that happen in Massachusetts.  Specifically, this bill will help reduce distracted driving accidents which has plagued the Commonwealth for years.

Those who violate this proposed law will receive a fine of $100 for a first offense, $250 for a second offense, and $ 500 for a third and subsequent offense.

How Social Media Can Wreck Your Personal Injury Case

How social media can wreck your personal injury caseToday millions and millions of people have social media accounts. Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms have gained wide traction with nearly all age groups throughout the world. While social media has many beneficial uses, it does not help in any way when an accident victim posts about their case on social media.

The reason is that once you file a claim for personal injuries, both the insurance company and even their lawyers will be scouring your social media accounts.  They do this to find your posts or photos that cast doubt on the legitimacy of your claimed injuries.

Why Personal Injury Lawyers Do Not Deserve A Bad Reputation

It is no secret that lawyers are not the most loved members of our community.  Our reputation has been sullied unfortunately by the misdeeds of others.  That is truly sad because the overwhelming vast majority of lawyers are good and decent people dedicated to helping their clients.  Personal injury lawyers, through less-than-tasteful advertising, are sometimes called ambulance chasers.  The public though sometimes forgets that personal injury lawyers, regardless of their reputation, are absolutely necessary in our society, and here are some reasons why:

Generally, and assuming the claim requires litigation, the driver of the car, as well as the owner of the car that struck you are both sued.
