Boston Shoulder Injury Lawyer
Shoulder injuries are very, very common.  Like the knee, the shoulder is a part of the anatomy that is susceptible to injury.  Shoulder injuries can happen from playing sports, working, and also can occur with age (degenerative wear and tear).  Other times shoulder injuries can occur due to negligence, including car accidents and other personal injury accidents.  They also occur frequently from accidents at work.  When this happens, the injured party may be considering whether or not to file a claim and file a lawsuit against the person or company that negligently injured them in the accident.  As a Boston shoulder injury lawyer, I have handled many of these cases, and they can be very complex, given just how complex the shoulder itself is.
There are various types of shoulder injuries.  Here are some of the most common:
Torn Rotator Cuff – The rotator cuff is a grouping of muscles and tendons in that allow you to hold your arm still and move it overhead.  This is very common injury from slips and falls.  When someone stretches their arm out to break their fall they can hyperextend their arm, causing a tearing of the rotator cuff.
Dislocated Shoulder – This is very painful injury that occurs when the upper arm bone pops out of the shouler blade.  Oftentimes the dislocation can be caused by closed reduction, which is when the shoulder is manually put back into place.
SLAP Tear – This is Superior Labrum Anterior and Posterior. This is an injury to the top part of the labrum.
Fractures – These oftentimes are caused in accidents.  Shoulder fractures are breaks to the clavicle, proximal humerus, and scapula.
Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) – This is when adhesions build up and restrict how much your shoulder can move. Hence it “freezes” due to lack of movement.
Impingement – This happens when the rotator cuff rubs up against the top of the shoulder bone called the acromion.
Shoulder injuries can result from some of the following types of personal injury accidents:
