Walpole pedestrian crash on Washington St claims elderly man

WALPOLE, MA – A vehicle struck and fatally injured an elderly pedestrian in central Norfolk County over the Christmas weekend, reports WHDH 7.

Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, emergency crews responded to an accident on Washington Street, which runs northwest to southeast in in the city of Walpole. Officials haven’t yet provided a cross street for the incident.

It’s unclear at this time if the 83-year-old pedestrian was walking in a designated crosswalk when the crash occurred.

The victim died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities haven’t yet released his name to the public.

The 19-year-old driver involved in the collision stopped to render aid and to speak with police. It’s unclear if she will face charges.

A full investigation is underway.
