Toddler struck, injured in Southborough auto-pedestrian crash

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – A two-year old boy went to the hospital Saturday after a vehicle struck him and his father in a Worcester County crosswalk, reports Boston 25 News.

The accident happened just after 10:30 a.m. between MA-85 and Middle Road on Main Street in Southborough. This is approximately 27 miles southwest of Boston.

Police say that a man was walking with his family in a designated crosswalk when a Ford Escape SUV hit and injured his toddler.

Medics transported the child to an area hospital with unknown injuries. He is expected to survive.

The 85-year-old driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.

Authorities are citing the driver for negligence.

The investigation is ongoing.
