Teen driver cited in fatal auto-bicycle crash in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, MA – A 60-year-old bicyclist sustained fatal injuries Monday afternoon when a vehicle struck him in southwest Norfolk County, reports NBC 10 Boston.

The accident happened shortly before 1 p.m. on South Main Street in the city of Bellingham, which is about 45 miles southwest of Boston. Officials haven’t yet disclosed a cross street for the collision.

Details regarding the crash remain limited. It’s unclear if the victim was riding in a designated bike lane or crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Police say the cyclist died after being transported to a hospital in his hometown, Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The victim’s name has not yet been released to the public.

Authorities cited a teen driver in connection to the collision, specifying lane violations, negligence, and motor vehicle homicide.
