Solo crash with ejection on 195 in Dartmouth claims 2 teens

DARTMOUTH, MA – Police are working to determine the cause of a collision that killed two teens Saturday in south-central Bristol County.

According to CBS News, the single-vehicle accident happened just after 1:30 p.m on I-195 near the exit for Reed Road in the city of Dartmouth. This is about 57 miles south of Boston.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the teen driver of a 2006 Chevy Equinox carrying two people lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the interstate. Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle and died after transport to an area hospital.

Authorities have identified the victims as Amilton De Pina Semedo, 18, and Kevin Dos Santos Lopes, 19.

Closures were reported along I-195 in the area of the crash while emergency crews assisted to victims and worked to clear the wreckage from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
