Single-vehicle collision on Rte 140 in Wrentham kills 1

WRENTHAM, MA – An elderly woman sustained fatal injuries Thursday in a single-vehicle crash along a major roadway in southwest Norfolk County, reports WPRI 12.

The incident occurred sometime in the evening along Franklin Street, or Route 140, between Elysium Street and Pendleton Road in the city of Wrentham. This is about 31 miles southwest of Boston.

There’s no word yet regarding the cause of the accident. Police say that the driver lost control of her vehicle, crashed through a guardrail, and landed in a body of water north of Lake Pearl.

The elderly driver died at the at the scene of the crash. Authorities haven’t yet released her name to the public.

There were no other passengers in the car at the time of the collision, and no other vehicles were involved.
