Serious injuries reported in auto-bike crash in SW Lynn

LYNN, MA – An adolescent boy sustained serious injuries Wednesday in a collision involving a car and a bicycle in south-central Essex County, reports Boston 25 News.

The collision occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cottage Street and Woodman Street, which is just east of Barry Park and west of Northern Strand Linear Park in the city of Lynn. This is about 11 miles northeast of Boston.

Police say that a vehicle struck a 16-year-old bicyclist near the intersection, violently ejecting him into the roadway.

Medics transported the teen victim to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver involved in the collision stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.

No charges have been filed thus far, but the crash remains under investigation.
