Postal worker charged with OUI after Longmeadow injury crash

EAST LONGMEADOW, MA – A man sustained serious injuries Tuesday when a USPS vehicle struck him at a gas station in south-central Hampden County, reports WCVB 5.

The accident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. at Pride gas station on Main Street in East Longmeadow, which is approximately 87 miles southwest of Boston.

Police say that a USPS postal worker was intoxicated when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a pedestrian in the parking lot of the gas station. The postal worker did not stop to render aid and ultimately crashed into People’s Bank at the corner of Main and Mapleshade.

Medics transported the pedestrian to an area hospital with significant head injuries.

Authorities arrested the postal worker, identified as 54-year-old Robert O’Sullivan, on charges of OUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

A full investigation is underway.
