WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA – One person was hospitalized Thursday following a major crash along the interstate in central Hampden County, reports Western Mass News.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. on I-91 south in West Springfield, about 91 miles southwest of Boston. Officials haven’t provided a mile marker or cross street for the wreck.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a driver lost control of their vehicle, left the interstate, and struck multiple trees. The driver became entrapped and required extrication.
Medics transported the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Motorists encountered slow-downs along I-91 in the area of the crash while emergency teams helped the victim and worked to clear the scene.
