PALMER, MA – Injuries have been reported in connection to a Thursday afternoon entrapment crash along the interstate in northeast Hampden County, reports WCVB News 5.
The accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on the westbound side of I-90 near mile marker 64.5 on the northeast side of Palmer. This is about 73 miles southwest of Boston.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a gray Mercedes sedan rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the interstate. At least one person in the sedan became entrapped and sustained serious injuries.
Photos taken at the scene depict the front of the sedan stuck beneath the rear or the semi.
Medics transported one or more people via air ambulance to an area hospital. Authorities haven’t yet released any further details regarding the victim(s).
Officials closed both sides of the interstate for nearly two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
