BOURNE, MA – At least one person sustained injuries Sunday afternoon in a major accident in northwest Barnstable County, reports WCVB 5.
The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. along the Bourne Bridge, or MA-128, in Bourne, which is approximately 57 miles southeast of Boston.
Several cars were involved in the crash, which caused one driver to become entrapped in their vehicle. Following extrication efforts, medics transported that driver to an area hospital with serious injuries.
It’s unclear if anyone else required hospitalization following the accident.
Officials closed both sides of the Bourne Bridge Sunday afternoon while emergency crews helped the victim, gathered evidence, and worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
