Fatality reported in rear-end crash on Chelsea St in East Boston

EAST BOSTON, MA – Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed one person early Friday in East Boston, reports NBC 10 Boston.

The accident occurred shortly after 2:15 p.m. on Chelsea Street between Glendon Place and East Eagle Street, which is west of the East Boston Expressway and south of Chelsea Creek.

The initial investigation indicates that a sedan crashed into the rear of a charter bus that was stopped on the side of the roadway. The sedan sustained significant damage in the collision.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim, nor have they commented on the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Drivers likely experienced delays overnight and in the early morning hours along Chelsea Street while crews gathered evidence and worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
