E-Bike crash near Copley Square critically injures pedestrian

BOSTON, MA – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries Wednesday when an e-bike struck them at a busy intersection in the Back Bay area of Boston, reports NBC 10 Boston.

The accident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Dartmouth Street and St James Avenue, which is northeast of Hynes Convention Center and north of I-90.

Police haven’t shared any details regarding the cause or circumstances of the crash. It’s unclear if the pedestrian was walking on a sidewalk or in a designated crosswalk when the wreck happened.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. They’ve not yet been identified by authorities.

Officials closed the mid-intersection traffic island for a few hours to gather evidence and clear the scene.

No charges have been announced at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
