Crash on Totten Pond in Waltham injures woman, police officer

WALTHAM, MA – A woman and a Waltham police officer were hospitalized Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle collision on the northwest side of town.

According to WHDH 7, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Totten Pond Road near 3rd Avenue, or Wyman Street. This is just southeast of Cambridge Reservoir and about 13 miles northwest of Boston.

There’s no word yet regarding the cause of the accident. Photos take at the scene suggest the collision caused the police cruiser to roll onto its side.

Medics transported Officer Phil O’Dowd to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified only as a pregnant woman, also went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials closed roads in the area of the crash while emergency crews assisted the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
