2 injured in auto-ped crash in Shaw’s parking lot in Orleans

ORLEANS, MA – Two people sustained injuries Tuesday in an auto-pedestrian accident in the parking lot of a grocery store in north Barnstable County, reports Cape Cod Times.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., emergency teams responded to an injury crash in Shaw’s parking lot on West Road in the city of Orleans. This is just east of Route 6, north of the Toyota dealership, and about 88 miles southeast of Boston.

Police say that an elderly driver struck a pedestrian and at least two parked vehicles while reversing from her parking space at Shaw’s.

The pedestrian went to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Medics also transported the 77-year-old driver to the hospital. Authorities say she sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Officials have not yet commented on the extent of the property damage caused by the crash.

A full investigation is underway.
