1 killed, 2 injured in 2-vehicle crash on I-91 in Longmeadow

LONGMEADOW, MA – A motorcyclist died, and two people were hurt Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision along the interstate in south-central Hampden County.

According to WWLP 22, the accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on the northbound side of I-91 in Longmeadow, which is about 94 miles southwest of Boston.

Police say that a northbound motorcycle hit a 2023 Ford Maverick pickup truck when the driver of the latter vehicle made a U-turn from southbound I-91 onto the northbound side of the interstate.

The motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old Edison Lajara Hernandez, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Medics transported two people from the pickup truck to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

A full investigation is underway.
