BOSTON, MA – A hit-and-run crash along a major roadway in southwest Boston killed one woman and left another seriously hurt on Sunday, reports CBS News.
The accident happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 100 block of South Huntington Avenue, just north of Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center.
Police say that a vehicle struck a 77-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman near the MBTA bus stop. It’s unclear if the women were walking in a designated crosswalk when the collision occurred. Evidence at the scene indicates that one of the pedestrians was using a walker.
Both women required hospitalization, and the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries not long after transport. Authorities have not yet released her name to the public.
The driver involved in the crash did not stop to render aid or to speak with authorities.
While police later found the abandoned vehicle not far from the site of accident, they’ve not yet located the driver.
The investigation is ongoing.
