1 injured in semi vs. MBTA train crash on Pine St in Canton

CANTON, MA – One person went to the hospital earlier this month when a train struck a semi-truck in central Norfolk County, reports WCVB News 5.

The accident happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, along the the railroad tracks that cross Pine Street in southeast Canton. This is about 45 minutes southwest of Boston.

Police say that an MBTA Commuter Rail hit an empty Ross Express truck that was stopped on the tracks. It’s unclear why the driver parked the 18-wheeler on the tracks.

Medics transported a passenger from the train to an area hospital with non-critical injuries. No other injuries were reported in connection to the crash.

Authorities citied the driver of the semi for parking the truck illegally along the tracks.

A full investigation is underway.
