Car rear-ends semi on Rte 24 in W Bridgewater, killing 1

WEST BRIDGEWATER, MA – A two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler claimed the life of a Taunton man Sunday morning in the southern suburbs, reports NBC 10 Boston.

Just before 7 a.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident along Route 24 approaching RI-106 in West Bridgewater, which is approximately 29 miles south of Boston.

The investigation thus far indicates that a car crashed into the rear of an Amazon Prime semi-truck.

The driver of the car, whom authorities have identified as 33-year-old Carlos Monteiro, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.

There’s no word yet regarding the cause of the crash, nor do we know if the truck driver sustained injuries.

Motorists likely faced delays along Route 24 Sunday morning while teams worked at the scene.
