Tewksbury PD responds to fatal pedestrian crash on Rte 38

TEWKSBURY, MA – An elderly man sustained fatal injuries Monday in an auto-pedestrian crash along the highway in northeast Middlesex County, reports WCVB 5.

The accident happened shortly after 5:15 a.m. on MA-38, or Main Street, near Clark Road in Tewksbury, which is about 24 miles northwest of Boston.

Police say that a man in his 70s was crossing MA-38 when a vehicle hit him. The victim, who has not yet been identified by authorities, died after transport to an area hospital.

It’s unclear if the victim was walking in a designated crosswalk.

The driver involved in the collision stopped to render aid and to speak with police.

No charges have been filed at the time.

A full investigation is underway.
