Multi-injury crash on Scenic Hwy in Boerne blocks traffic

BOERNE, MA – At least three people sustained injuries Wednesday in a multi-vehicle collision along the highway in northwest Barnstable County.

According to WCVB 5, the accident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Grand Army of the Republic Highway in Boerne, which is about an hour southeast of Boston.

Police haven’t yet determined the cause of the crash, which they say involved an Audi Q5, a Hyundai Kona, and a BMW X1. One of the vehicles ignited during the wreck, and at least two people became entrapped in another vehicle.

Medics transported the 23-year-old driver of the Kona to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The other two drivers required hospitalization for unspecified injuries.

None of the victims have been named at this time.

Officials closed the highway for over three hours while emergency crews attended to the victims, gathered evidence, and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
