Massachusetts Auto Accidents and Property Damage Insurance

Massachusetts law requires, as part of the standard Massachusetts auto insurance policy, that all drivers carry at a minimum $5000.00 in property damage protection.  What does this cover?  It covers all property damage that you cause as a result of a Massachusetts auto accident.  It covers damage you cause to someone’s car, house, bike, etc.  Be aware however that if your car is the last vehicle involved in a Massachusetts pile-up accident, you could be held responsible for all property damage caused in the accident, and that could be quite expensive.

It is for this reason that I suggest you buy more than the required Massachusetts minimum of $5000.00.  Buy $100, 000.00 in coverage because it will only cost you roughly about $5.00 more per year, and will adequately protect you and your assets.
