This translates to nearly 5 million dog bite victims per year, most of whom are children. In a 10-year period, the number of dogs rose by 2%, while the number of bites increased by 33%. About 1,000 dog bite victims arrive in hospital emergency rooms per day for treatment. Dog bite losses exceed $1 billion per year, with $345 million paid by homeowner insurance policies.”
