NORWOOD, MA – Police do not expect to file charges against the driver involved in a collision with a teen cyclist in central Norfolk County on Monday.
According to NBC 10 Boston, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Walpole Street and Geraldine Drive in the city of Norwood, which is about 22 miles southwest of Boston.
Police haven’t yet shared any details regarding the cause or circumstances of the crash except to say that drugs and alcohol appear not to have been a factor and that the victim was wearing a helmet.
Medics airlifted the 15-year-old bicyclist to the hospital with injuries; they are expected to survive.
The driver involved in the collision stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.
Officials closed Walpole Street in the area of the crash while emergency crews attended to the victim and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
