HATFIELD, MA – One person was hurt Sunday in a single-vehicle collision along the interstate in north-central Hampshire County, reports WWLP 22.
The accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. on the northbound side of I-91 near near mile marker 29.3 on the west side of Hatfield, which is approximately 110 miles west of Boston.
Police haven’t yet determined the cause of the crash, which they say resulted in serious injuries for the driver, who was thrown from the vehicle during the accident.
Photos taken at the scene depict a red SUV with extensive damage to the front and driver’s side.
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.
Officials closed at least one lane of I-91 northbound while crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
