Fiery solo crash in NW Taunton claims Dighton teen

TAUNTON, MA – A Dighton teen died Friday in a fiery solo crash along a major roadway in northeastern Bristol County, reports WPRI 12 News.

The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Tremont Street between Westside Avenue and Locust Street on the northwest side of Taunton. This is approximately 38 miles south of Boston.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an 18-year-old driver lost control of her Toyota Tacoma, left the roadway, and struck a porch and several parked cars. The pickup truck then caught fire.

The driver of the pickup truck succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name to the public.

There’s no word regarding the driver’s condition at the time of the crash.
