5-car accident on I-93 NB near Exit 25 in Medford kills 1

MEDFORD, MA – A multi-vehicle collision along the interstate in eastern Middlesex County killed one person Thursday evening, reports WCVB 5. 

The accident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on the northbound side of I-93 between Exits 23 and 25 in the city of Medford. This is 10 minutes northwest of Boston.

Police are still working to determine the cause of the wreck, which they say involved five vehicles.

Authorities declared one person deceased at the scene. They’ve not yet released the name of the victim.

It’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the crash, and there’s no word thus far regarding charges.

Officials closed the interstate near Roosevelt Circle while medics responded to the scene and crews worked to clear the wreckage.
