WOBURN, MA – Woburn Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that seriously injured a driver on Thursday night, reports Boston 25 News.
Shortly before 9 p.m., emergency crews responded to a fiery accident near the Woburn Rotary Club on Route 38, or Main Street. This is only 12 miles northwest of Boston.
Police aren’t yet sure what caused the driver to lose control of his BMW sedan, leave the roadway, and collide with a pole. The impact caused the engine of the car to ignite.
Police and medics extricated the driver, at which point they were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The collision likely caused significant delays along Main Street in Woburn while crews assisted the victim and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
