WELLFLEET, MA – Three people were hurt Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in northeast Barnstable County.
According to WCVB 5, the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. on Route 6 between Rose Lane and Designers Road in the city of Wellfleet, which is about 15 miles southeast of Provincetown and 100 miles southeast of Boston.
Police haven’t yet commented on what might have caused the two cars to collide head on.
Medics airlifted an 18-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man from one vehicle to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
A passenger from the second vehicle also required hospitalization. The extent of this person’s injuries is unclear.
The collision likely caused substantial delays along Route 6 in the Wellfleet area while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
