NORTHBRIDGE, MA – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 21-year-old man Monday in southeast Worcester County, reports NBC 10 Boston.
The accident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and North Main Street in southwest Northbridge, which is around 42 miles southwest of Boston.
Police say that an eastbound driver was likely speeding when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. The force of the impact threw the driver from the vehicle, killing him at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Zachary Dawe of Northbridge.
Officials say that alcohol consumption may have been a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
