Man killed in Father’s Day crash on I-69 in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, MA – A 69-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Sunday night in a single-vehicle crash along the interstate in northwest Bristol County, reports WCVB 5.

Around 7:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident on I-69 on the west side of Attleboro. This is about 38 miles southwest of Boston.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a gray Toyota Corolla lost control of his vehicle and left the interstate. The car overturned after hitting a tree.

The driver succumbed to his injuries after transport to an area hospital. Authorities identified him as James Hobbs of Boston.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and Hobbs was not carrying any passengers in the Toyota.

Drivers likely encountered a slow-down Sunday night on the interstate while medics extricated the victim and crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
