Things To Do Before Contacting A Personal Injury Lawyer
The aftermath of an accident can be overwhelming.  You are unsure of what to do, who to trust, and you also may be dealing with pain and discomfort from the injuries you received from the accident.  You may be deciding whether or not to contact a personal injury lawyer.  Here are three things to consider before contacting one:
Ask yourself if the statute of limitations has passed.  Most injury claims have three-year statutes of limitations (note workers’ compensation claims have a four-year statute of limitations).  If this very important deadline has passed then there is no case to pursue and no lawyer will be able to help you.
Were you at fault?  If you were the one responsible for causing the car accident you were in, or you were carelessly walking and slipped and fell, then there is probably not a case to pursue.  If you know you were 100% at-fault for bringing about the accident, then there is nothing a personal injury attorney in Boston will be able to help you with.
Were you injured and did you receive medical treatment?  Hopefully you were not injured in the accident.  If you were, and you received medical treatment you may have a claim to pursue.  However, even if you were injured, but did not receive any medical treatment related to the accident, then you will not have a valid to pursue for financial compensation.
Therefore, as long as the statute of limitations has not passed, you were not at fault for the accident, and you received medical treatment for your injuries, then it may make good sense to contact and hire a personal injury lawyer for your case.
