Massachusetts Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Massachusetts Motorcycle Accident Lawyer
As a Massachusetts motorcycle accident lawyer I represent many Massachusetts motorcyclists that are injured by someone’s negligence.  No matter how careful a motorcyclist is, car operators all too often negligently strike them, causing personal injuries.  Frequently these accidents cause far greater injuries then most car accidents do.

Sadly, as a Massachusetts motorcycle accident lawyer, my clients usually don’t carry enough insurance on their motorcycles. Here is what you can do to protect yourself.

Purchase Med Pay

Unfortunately, unlike car operators, motorcycle operators in Massachusetts may not purchase PIP coverage. PIP, or Personal Injury Protection insurance, pays for medical bills and lost wages. Without the benefit of PIP, a Massachusetts motorcyclist must purchase sufficient Med Pay, or Medical Payments coverage, that will pay for accident-related medical treatment.
This will not pay for lost wages so it would be wise to purchase a disability insurance policy in order to be adequately protected.

Purchase Additional Underinsured Motorist Coverage

While Med Pay will pay for your medical bills, you want sufficient underinsured coverage as well.  This will help as most car operators in Massachusetts have minimal bodily injury liability limits.
If you get hit by someone with bodily injury limites that are insufficient, then you can look to your own policy’s underinsured coverage to make up the difference.
Therefore, purchasing sufficient med pay and underinsured liability limits is always a smart move for all Massachusetts motorcycle operators.
