ORLEANS, MA – A male bicyclist went to the hospital Thursday afternoon after colliding with a commercial motor vehicle in northeast Barnstable County.
According to CapeCod.Com, the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rock Harbor Road and Captain Doane’s Way in the city of Orleans. This is about 88 miles southeast of Boston.
Police say the collision involved a 200 Isuzu dump truck and a bicycle. They’ve not yet determined the cause of the crash.
Medics airlifted the elderly motorcyclist to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the dump truck stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.
The incident likely created traffic delays in the area of Rock Harbor and Captain Doane’s while emergency teams attended to the victim and worked to clear the scene.
