Massachusetts PIP Benefits and EUO’s

If you have been involved in a Massachusetts auto accident your insurance company is required by law to pay the first $8000.00 in medical bills and lost wages that you incur following your accident.  As a condition of receiving these benefits, your insurance company may require you to attend an EUO (Examination Under Oath).

The purpose of the EUO is for the attorney for your insurance company to get your account of how the accident happened, and also, to find out about the medical treatment you sought following the accident.  It is best to have an attorney be present with you during the EUO in order to provide that your rights under the PIP statute are protected.
